Utility Cost Savings Event Coming To Marlborough

There's been an autumn chill in the air recently, which means high heating bills are coming soon. Find out how to save in Marlborough.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — With winter and its high heating bills approaching fast, Marlborough will host an event next week aimed at finding savings for residents.

On Tuesday, representatives from major utilities like National Grid and Eversource will be in Marlborough to talk to ratepayers about items like how to save on utility bills and payment assistance.

Colonial Power, Marlborough's electricity aggregation partner, will also be at the event to help residents switch to Marlborough’s Community Choice Power Program. Marlborough's aggregation program allows electricity customers to lock in a lower rate for the supply portion of the electric bill. Marlborough's rate will remain at about 9 cents per kilowatt-hour until January. National Grid's service supply rate last winter topped 33 cents per kilowatt-hour. Marlborough's aggregation program is also 100 percent from renewable sources.

The utility savings event will run 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Marlborough Senior Center, 40 New St.
