Multiple Violations Found at Fish Restaurant

Nearly 20 violations were found at Fish Restaurant & Wine Bar recently.

A health inspection of Fish Restaurant yielded 19 health violations during a food borne illness investigation.

“This combination of violations could lead to transmission of pathogens from food handlers to members of the public,” wrote Marlborough Board of Health Inspector Deirdre O’Connor on the inspection paperwork.

The inspection of the restaurant was prompted by an illness investigation following an incident on February 17, according to Board of Health records. Fish was inspected on February 20 as a part of the investigation undertaken by the Marlborough Board of Health.

The inspection noted murky water in the lobster tanks, incorrectly set up hand washing stations with the wrong temperatures and cutlery boards being deeply scored and therefore not cleanable.

The raw bar was bare wood and not cleanable while the sanitizer needed to be adjusted. Some equipment needed to be repaired, according to the report.

“Many of the basic food safety practices are omitted,” wrote O’Connor on the inspection sheet.

A follow-up inspection 24 hours later found that all the violations had been corrected. The 24-hour fix prompted O'Connor to call off follow-up steps she had previously required.

"Nice job," she noted in the follow-up inspection.
