Washed-Out Golf Tournament a Financial Success for Hospital
The Marlborough Hospital recently hosted their annual golf tournament to help raise money for the newly-planned cancer pavilion.

The 16th annual Golf Classic was a financial success despite being a weather wash-out. The golf tournament netted over $110,000 to benefit the new Cancer Pavilion in the planning stages to be built on the north side of the existing hospital.
The event held on Monday, Aug. 15 at the Charter Oak Country Club in Hudson, had a full field of golfers signed up for the event with most braving the elements to focus on raising funds for local cancer care.
About why so many golfers braved the elements golfer Jim Petkewich of put it this way “It's too bad we can't control Mother Nature, but playing in the rain is a blessing compared to the daily burden for those fighting cancer which the proceeds from this event will benefit.”

A variety of interesting and unique items were available for bidding including an autographed jersey from the Stanley Cup winners Boston Bruins, Red Sox and New England Patriots autographed memorabilia, a hot air balloon ride and fine wines.
Marlborough Hospital announced plans earlier this spring to design a Cancer Pavilion to provide expanded cancer care services for the communities it serves. In partnership with the UMass Memorial Health Care Cancer Center of Excellence, the building will be a nearly 15,000 square-foot addition to the hospital. The Cancer Pavilion will house cancer care services including medical oncology, radiation oncology, exam space and a healing garden.
