Whitcomb Student Competes For USA Ambassador Junior Teen
Lauren Plank, a 7th grade student at the Whitcomb school in Marlborough, "embodies the USA Ambassador Pageant traits."
MARLBOROUGH, MAâFrom Marlborough Public Schools: Success is earned through Leadership, Integrity, Character and Confidence, or S.L.I.C.C., as defined by the USA Ambassador Pageant organization. Founded in the Fall of 2010 by the mother daughter team of Barbara & Kristin Thurston, the pageant was established to promote each contestant's individual strength and encouraging its queens, contestants, and families to be involved in their communities and serve as ambassadors. To date, the U.S.A. Ambassador Pageant has donated to over 20 different charity organizations across the country and continues to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization which serves as their National Charity Beneficiary.
Lauren Plank, a 7th grade student at the Whitcomb school in Marlborough, embodies the USA Ambassador Pageant traits. This past November, Lauren Plank, turned over her title as USA Ambassador Miss New England Preteen and competed in the Junior Teen Category. She won the title of Miss Massachusetts Junior Teen. At the Regional Pageant, Lauren won not only the Title of Miss Massachusetts in her age category, but the first-place award for BEST in CLASS (an academic title), first place in Talent, and first place in Modeling in the optional categories.
A member of the National Junior Honor Society, Lauren has been competing in pageants for the last five years after she was inspired by a friend she met during her first pageant. Her busy schedule includes being a member of The New England Academy of Gymnastics Platinum Team and a member of the Absolute Dance School Team. She also spends time volunteering at St. Anneâs Parish and in the community with various charitable events such as the Boston Childrenâs Hospital Walk, The MDSA Buddy Walk, The Jimmy Fund Walk and many others.

âAlthough Lauren is busy with various extracurricular activities, she still makes time to give back to her community,â stated Jackie Plank, Laurenâs mother. âParticipating in the U.S.A. Ambassador Pageant has exposed Lauren to networking at a young age. She has met amazing young ladies in all age groups from all over the country, many who have become friends.â
âThis experience has taught me not to compare myself to others and to try my best. I have learned to follow the S.L.I.C.C. motto of the Pageant, Success through Leadership, Integrity, Character, and Confidence,â offered Lauren Plank.
