Tisbury Coronavirus: Library, Senior Center, Parks Close

TISBURY, MA — The Town of Tisbury Tuesday announced it closing several of its municipal facilities and changing the way it handles public meetings to further prevent the spread of the new coronavirus in the community.
In a statement posted on the town's website, officials announced a number of changes. Starting March 18 and continuing through May 1, the Tisbury Library, Tisbury Senior Center, all public parks and all recreational facilities are closed to the public.
Similarly, Tisbury Town Offices will be open to the public by appointment only. Officials urge residents to conduct business and transactions online or via email, telephone or regular mail if possible.

The town also suspending all advisory boards and committee meetings until May 1. In addition, all regulatory board and commission meetings will be held via video conference with remote participation.
The town stated its public safety departments — fire, ambulance and police — will remain open and functional. Residents in need of public safety assistance, however, are asked to refrain from going to building lobbies unless an emergency is occurring.

Tisbury has also postponed its 2020 Town Meeting originally scheduled for March 30. In a declaration, town moderator Deborah Medders said she will continue to monitor the spread of the COVID-19 virus and decide at a later date whether the 2020 Town Meeting and 2020 Special Town Meeting can be held on April 30.
