Medfield Officials Discuss 'No Dog in Cemetery' Regulation
A fine of $50 for a first-offense was recommended for the policy.

Officials in Medfield are looking at potentially implementing a “No Dog in Cemetery” regulation for Vine Lake Cemetery.
Officials with the Medfield Department of Public Works and Medfield Cemetery Commission recently spoke with the Medfield Board of Selectmen regarding the proposal after receiving “numerous complaints of dogs running off leash, of dog owners not picking up after their dogs and of health concerns to the cemetery workers resulting from dog feces,” according to a post on Selectman Richard DeSorgher’s blog this week.
The proposal recommends a $50 fine for a first-time offense, with a subsequent offense resulting in a $100 fine; with the recommendation that new signs be installed stating the fines to replace the current “No Dogs Allowed” signs at the Main Street and Dale Street entrances, according to the post.
