5 Things: Holiday Weekend Weather Outlook, Medfordian Featured in Runner's World

Good morning, here are five things to know today:

The Route of the Boston Marathon stays south of the Charles River, but the race is expected to impact some bus lines that run in Medford. According to a schedule released by the MBTA, the 94, 95, 96, 134 and 101 buses will take different routes at certain periods of the day Monday to avoid disrupting the race.

2. Medford Native, Marathon Director, Profiled in Runner's World: Now in his 25th year working at the marathon, Dave McGillivray was recently featured in Runner's World magazine.

3. Weather: Mostly sunny skies are expected today with highs around 60, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 60s to low 70s Saturday and Sunday, with a 30 percent chance of rain Sunday. Patriots Day is expected to be partly sunny with highs near 70 degrees.

4. Medford Native Hal McKusick Dead at 87: Jazz teacher Hal McKusick died Wednesday after a prolonged illness, officials at the New York school he taught at said Thursday. Born June 1, 1924, in Medford, Mass., McKusick was an acclaimed saxophonist who was a member of the CBS Studio Orchestra and performed with many jazz legends during his long and distinguished career.
