Second Medford School Closes Due To Suspected Norovirus Outbreak: Report

Classes are expected to resume on Thursday.

MEDFORD, MA — A second school has canceled classes due to a high number of suspected norovirus cases, according to a report from WCVB NewsCenter 5.

Saint Joseph School at 32 High St. closed its doors on Tuesday, Dec. 16 and Wednesday, Dec. 17 after approximately 20 percent of its students were absent on Monday due to stomach illness symptoms. The school reportedly plans on resuming classes Thursday once a deep cleaning of the building is completed.

Last week, Roberts Elementary School on 35 Court St. was also closed for two days after more than 130 students and faculty took ill from what was believed to be Norovirus. Roberts has since reopened.
