5 Things: Marathon Monday Edition

Here's Five Things. Monday April 16, 2012.

Good morning, here are five things to know today:

1. Medford Patriots Day Activities: Medford's Patriots Day ceremonies start at 10 a.m. at City Hall and will proceed to the Salem Street Funeral Ground and Gaffey Funeral Home. Find the full list of events on the city's website.

2. A Hot One: Temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 80s today, making for potentially dangerous conditions for marathoners. As result, the Boston Marathon has offered registered runners the opportunity to defer their run to next year.

3. Medford Runners: You can see a list every Medford resident expected to run in today's marathon at the BAA's website (just enter the Medford zip, 02155).

Three Medford bus lines will be rerouted during parts of the day today because of the race. Check the MBTA's online alerts before leaving. The MBTA also advises commuter rail riders to budget a little more time for transportation due to expected crowds.

5. Marathon Logistics: Racers start taking off in Hopkinton at 9 a.m. WBZ-TV's website will have live coverage of the race online. There's also today's Red Sox game against the Tampa Bay Rays, which starts at 11:15 a.m.
