Anonymous Threat Called In To Medford High School Thursday
District officials said there was "no known credible threat" but did increase the police presence at the school Thursday morning.
MEDFORD, MA — District officials assured families there was "no known credible threat" to Medford High School after the school received an anonymous threat Thursday morning.
Superintendent Marice Edouard-Vincent said the threat was called in to the principal's office, prompting an additional police presence at the school as a precautionary measure.
It was the latest incident in a tumultuous week at Medford High School, where two incidents of violence sparked a student walkout on Wednesday. A second walkout was planned Friday, as administrators and counselors work with student groups to improve the environment at the school.

"Please know that we continue to be committed to engaging our students in a constructive dialogue about how to best build the positive school culture that they are rightfully demanding," Edouard-Vincent said in a statement on Thursday.
Edouard-Vincent said other districts have faced similar challenges in returning to regular schooling following shifts in learning during the pandemic.

"This dialogue and the related work will be ongoing and is similar to what other districts are confronting as schools slowly emerge from the COVID-19 era," she said.
There will be staff and student meetings next week, as well as additional counseling and mental health staff available, to discuss how to move forward and "foster an atmosphere in which our students and staff will be able to thrive," Edouard-Vincent said.
