Bill Clinton to Speak at Tufts in November

Former president will deliver the Fares Lecture on Nov. 6.

Former President Bill Clinton will speak at Tufts University in November, the school has announced.

Clinton will deliver the Issam M. Fares Lecture on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 4:00 P.M. in the Gantcher Family Sports Center, according to a university press release.

Clinton will join a significant list of world political figures by delivering the lecture. Previous speakers include Prime Ministers of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Tony Blair and Margaret Thatcher, former President of France Valery Giscard d'Estaing, former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright, James A. Baker, III and Colin Powell, and former Sen. George Mitchell, the press release said. Clinton's wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, also delivered the lecture while serving as a U.S. Sentator.

Tickets will be offered to members of the Tufts community, with further details to be announced in October, the release said.

"We are privileged that President Clinton, who delivered the Fares Lecture at the dedication of Tufts' Fares Center for Lebanese and Eastern Mediterranean Studies almost 10 years ago, will be returning to Tufts," said Tufts University President Anthony P. Monaco in a statement. "This lecture series brings to Tufts some of the world's most influential leaders, and we know that President Clinton will once again challenge, engage and inspire our students and the broader Tufts community."

The lecture is sponsored by the Tufts Fares Center for Eastern Mediterranean Studies, which aims to promote a greater understanding of the heritage of the Eastern Mediterranean and of the challenges the region faces, the release said.
