Catherine Elsie Cassidy: August 10, 1919 to April 10, 2011

Catherine Elsie Cassidy, 91, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on April 10th, 2011.

She was born in Cambridge on August 10th, 1919 to her parents Peter Anker Larsen and Bridget (O’Sullivan) Larsen. Catherine was raised and educated in Cambridge and is a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin.

She has been a resident of Medford since 1950. She served her country honorably during World War II as a member of the United States Navy Waves. For many years, Catherine worked as a claims adjuster for the Wausau Insurance Company. She also donated her time and effort to the Medford Family Network at Medford High School. Catherine enjoyed all forms of arts and crafts, especially cake decorating and was also an accomplished Line Dancer.

She spent many summers with her family visiting relatives in Rockland and Kittery, Maine.

She is survived by her children; Marie Cassidy and her husband Sumner Jones of Salem, Jerry Cassidy of Arlington and Carolyn Schleer and her husband John of Boxford; by her grandchildren Andy, Matt, Susan, Ben, John Jr., Derek, Chris, Evan and Andrew; and by her sister Marie Reardon of Kittery, Maine.

She was predeceased by her husband Bernard A. Cassidy and by her brothers Peter and John Larsen.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Saturday April 16th at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford at 10 a.m.

Services will conclude with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday April 15th from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Medford Family Network, 489 Winthrop St. , Medford, Mass. 02155.
