MEDFORD, MA — Bill Blumenreich Presents, LLC, the operator and promoter of shows and events at the historic Chevalier Theatre, has renewed its contract with the City of Medford for an additional five years, Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said Wednesday.

“Bill and his team have been exceptional stewards of the Chevalier Theatre and revitalized the venue by bringing world-class performers and events to our City,” Lungo-Koehn said in a statement. “I’m thrilled that they will continue to guide the programming at this historic theatre for the next five years.”

In 2019, the City installed an air conditioning system in the theater, with money coming from the Cultural Facility Fund, Community Preservation Act, and Encore Boston Harbor. The air conditioning allows shows to be booked year-round. The city also repaired and restored 19 windows in the main auditorium space and upper patron lobby using $88,000 from the Community Preservation Commission.
Other maintenance projects, such as façade restoration, foundation waterproofing, and ADA accessibility upgrades are ongoing. Rep. Paul Donato and Medford’s state delegation secured $75,000 for improvements to the venue for the upcoming fiscal year. The City of Medford is also working closely with Bill Blumenreich Presents, the Civic Auditorium and Convention Center Commission, and the Friends of the Chevalier Theater to update the interior theater space.
