Figure 8: When it isn't hosting hockey games, is open for public skating this weekend. The rink has open skate on Saturdays at Sundays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. It will also be open on Martin Luther King Day for open skate from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Shovel Out a Hydrant: Okay, this one is a lot less fun. But the fire department needs those hydrants shoveled out. On Thursday, they had crews out shoveling and dug out about 100 of them, Deputy fire Chief Steve Howe said. But with over 700 streets in Medford, they need some help from city residents, too.
