LoConte Gets Upgrades, Concert Tonight at Wright's Pond, Bicyclists Hurt in Crash

Good morning, here's five things to know today:
About a half million dollars has been poured into improvements to LoConte Rink, and the city hopes the state will spend about $450,000 more soon. New boards, glass, benches, locker rooms and handicap accessibility are all expected to be ready to go by early October, Mayor Michael McGlynn said Monday. All of the improvements have come through state funding.
A bicyclists is in serious condition after being struck by a car on Route 16 early Monday morning, police said. The bicyclist, a 19-year-old Somerville man, tried crossing Route 16 at the intersection with Broadway in Somerville about 12:30 a.m. Monday even though he had a red light, according to a state police press release. A 2006 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 46-year-old Medford man hit the bicyclists in the eastbound lane.

Clear and Warm: Skies will be in the upper-70s today with sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. Mostly sunny with highs in the low-80s tomorrow.
