MEDFORD, MA – Medford firefighters battled a massive fire at a home on Terrace Road Tuesday morning, reports WHDH.

Property records show the house is owned by Alexander James Warren, Senator Elizabeth Warren's son. She was seen touring the site, according to WHDH.

“I deeply appreciate the efforts of the firefighters who worked through the night to put out a fire at our son’s house,” Warren said in a statement, reports WHDH. “I am grateful that everyone is safe and request privacy for our family.”

Firefighters arrived at the scene around 1 a.m. and remained on scene until 9 a.m. to monitor hot spots, according to WHDH.

Flames and heavy smoke consumed the two-and-a-half story building, blowing out the windows of the house.

Medford Fire Chief told WHDH no one was injured in the house, which was under construction and vacant when it caught fire, but neighboring houses were evacuated.

A portion of Terrace Road was closed by Medford Police due to the large house fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
