Medford Boys Soccer Earns Thrilling Playoff Win Over Malden

The Mustangs advanced to the semi-final round of the MIAA state tournament with a 1-0 win over the Golden Tornadoes.

The Medford High School boys varsity soccer team knocked off Malden on Monday to advance to the semi-final round of the MIAA state tournament.

The two sides played to a scoreless draw after 80 minutes of fierce soccer. As a result, the game shifted to a penalty kicks stage. The Mustangs ultimately prevailed, winning 1-0 at McDonald Stadium.

In the shootout, three Mustangs buried goals. Medford goalkeeper Sami Reed came up big, saving all but one of Malden’s penalty kicks.

Medford will next square off with Brookline on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The game will be played at Manning Field in Lynn.
