Medford Chamber Of Commerce Hosting Mayoral Debate

MEDFORD, MA — The Medford Chamber of Commerce has announced that it is hosting a public mayoral debate next month between candidates Breanna Lungo-Koehn, the current mayor, and challenger Richard Caraviello.

The debate is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Oct 4 at McGlynn School Auditorium, located at 3002 Mystic Valley Parkway. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The free event will take place a little over a month before the Nov. 7 municipal election.

Organizers of the debate are asking the public to submit questions for the candidates that will be asked at the debate.

Members of the public should submit issues-based questions that are directed at both candidates, organizers said. The questions should be emailed to medford.chamber.debate@gmail.com by 5 p.m. on Sept. 22.

Lungo-Koehn is in her second two-year term as mayor after being elected in 2019 and 2021. Prior to that, she served 18 years as a Medford city councilor.

As mayor, Lungo-Koehn, who announced her decision to run for reelection in April, has developed Medford's first comprehensive multi-year capital improvement plan and launched a community-driven comprehensive plan process to create a 30-year vision for the future of Medford.

Caraviello, who announced his candidacy for mayor in April, has served on the Medford City Council for more than 12 years, spending three of those years as president.

Caraviello has been an active member of the community and has been involved in organizations such as Medford Kiwanis, Medford Chamber of Commerce and the Medford Youth Hockey Association.

"I have spent my entire life in this community, and I am committed to working hard to make it an even better place to live, work and raise a family," Caraviello said in announcing his candidacy. "I will bring a thoughtful, collaborative and common-sense approach to city government, and I look forward to serving the people of Medford in this expanded role."
