Medford Library Gears Up For Move To New Building

The library will close for the remainder of the year after this week and reopen in January at its new location on High Street.

MEDFORD, MA — The Medford Public Library will close for the remainder of the year after this week as it prepares to move to its new location on High Street.

The building at 200 Boston Avenue will be open through 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4. It will close through Sunday, Jan. 2 and reopen with regular hours at its High Street location on Monday, Jan. 3.

Patrons are asked to keep the following in mind:

  • Items will be available to pick up in the hallway until the close of business on Dec. 4th.
  • Returns will be accepted in the outside bookdrop until Sunday, December 5 at 8 p.m.
  • If dropping off after Dec. 5th, please hold your returns until the library reopens in January – no fines will be charged in December or January.
  • Items checked out after November 15 will not be due until January 19.
  • Regular loan periods will resume on Monday, January 3rd.
  • If you absolutely have to return items after December 5, you may do so at another area library, as there will be no return facilities at Boston Ave or High St. after that date.
  • Fines to resume on February 1, 2022.

Patrons are advised to freeze their holds or transfer them for pickup at another area library.

Additionally, there will be limited availability of museum passes in December. It is recommended that patrons reserve passes in advance and pick them up by Dec. 4. Some passes may be available electronically – the library website will post that information as it comes in.
