MEDFORD, MA — City officials this week decided to move the 2022 inauguration ceremony indoors due to concerns over the omicron variant.

The ceremony, scheduled for Jan. 2, will be held in the council chambers at City Hall, with attendance limited to family members only. It will be streamed via Zoom and broadcast live on Medford Community Media starting at 10 a.m.

Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution" in order to limit indoor gatherings to slow the spread of the new variant.
