The U.S. Postal Service is considering shutting branches in Medford at 470 Boston Ave. and 485 High St. as part of a nationwide review of about 3,700 post offices.

Jeffrey Smith, 46, of 122 Allston St., was released Monday after being held for 15 months in federal prison for sending letters threatening to burn black churches and NAACP buildings, the FBI said.
