Medford Residents Concerned About Abandoned MBTA Cars
Although the Orange Line shutdown just started, the trains have been there since earlier in the summer, residents said.

MEDFORD, MA — Medford residents who live rear Rivers Edge Drive have expressed concerns that dozens of abandoned Orange Line trains are a “public safety hazard” and are calling on the MBTA to remove them, reported NBC 10 Boston.
Although the Orange Line shutdown just started, the trains have been there since earlier in the summer, residents said. They are covered in graffiti and have broken windows.
"It started off with just a couple of them and then one night, I’m looking out the window and I see a whole line of trains," Jeanmarie Gray of Medford told NBC 10. Gray also said she is also concerned people may be living inside the trains.

According to NBC 10, State Rep. Steven Ultrino has been trying to get to the bottom of the issue, but hasn’t heard much from the MBTA.
"I know they’re doing a lot of work over the next 30 days, but this is really something that should be taken away,” he told the news site.

The MBTA said the old cars will be disposed of when they have an adequate amount of new trains available for service.
