MHS Girls Hoops, Hockey Advance in Tournaments
Mustangs boys basketball bows out with a first-round exit at Andover.

Three Medford High School teams opened their respective Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletics Association (MIAA) tournaments this week, with girls basketball and hockey advancing following their opening round games.
The season is over for boys basketball, however, after a first-round loss to Andover.
The 16th-seeded Lady Mustangs basketball team hosted 17th-seeded Chelmsford Monday night in the preliminary round of the North Division 1 tournament and won 52-50.

Now, they girls will head to play top-seeded Lynn English in the first round of the tournament tonight at 7 p.m.
On Wednesday night, the Lady Mustangs hockey team won their preliminary round match-up against Medway/Ashland in the Division 1 tournament at the New England Sports Complex in Marlborough.

The Boston Herald reported the final score of the game was 5-1. MHS is ranked 18th in the tournament while Medway/Ashland is 15th.
They will now head to Salem State University to face second-ranked Beverly/Danvers on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Medford's boys basketball team, ranked ninth in the North Division 1 tournament, lost at eighth-seeded Andover Tuesday 60-48.
The Mustangs ended the regular season with a 13-7 record.
