Like every winter, unfortunately, there have been reports from around Massachusetts of firefighters undertaking rescue missions of people or animals who have broken through ice and ended up in freezing cold water.

Arlington Man Charged with Attempted Murder
A Newland Road man allegedly shoved a woman to the floor early Sunday morning and then began choking her. Gregg J. Perry, 30, was arrested at about 3 a.m. Sunday outside of his residence by Arlington police and charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault and battery. - John Waller

Members of the Somerville Police Department Drug Control Unit caught a Dorchester man Friday with 11 bags of cocaine, according to allegations outlined in a police report.
The report says detectives set up a sting operation as part of an ongoing investigation into a residence in Winter Hill that was allegedly serving as a base for a cocaine distribution operation. - Chris Orchard

Winchester's $400K Snow Budget Nearly Gone
The Winchester Department of Public Works has used up nearly all of its $400,000 snow budget this winter, according to Director Jay Gill.
Of the $400,000 allocated for this winter, only about $12,000 remains, or in other words: About 97 percent of the overall snow removal budget has been used, according to Gill. - Mark Ouellette
