Parking Free In Medford During Transition To City Department

Parking will be free to the public for the next few weeks as the Parking Department builds its team and updates equipment.

MEDFORD, MA — Parking will be temporarily free in Medford as enforcement transitions from Park Medford to the city's new Parking Department.

Park Medford's contract expired Jan. 6, and the new department is still building its team and updating equipment. Seven new employees were onboarded in January, under the direction of Parking Director Faye Morrison, who was hired in October.

The city estimates that parking kiosks will be fully operational and accepting payments some time in February. In the meantime, new signs have been added to the payment kiosks, alerting the public to the temporary change in enforcement.
