Protest Planned At Tufts President's House In Medford
Our Revolution Medford says it will rally outside Tufts President Tony Monaco's house this week to protest the university's reopening.
MEDFORD, MA — Our Revolution is planning a rally outside Tufts University President Tony Monaco's house in Medford this week. The demonstration will protest Tufts's decision to bring students back to campus this fall.
Earlier this month, the university held community meetings for residents of both Medford and Somerville, outlining an ambitious testing plan that calls for students to be tested twice a week. Officials in both communities have expressed concern over the potential health risk to residents.
Our Revolution Medford has a list of over a dozen demands for Tufts, including single-occupancy rooms only, quarantine facilities that do not share restrooms, remote lectures and free testing for Medford and Somerville residents. The organization says "Tufts did not answer critical questions from community members or city officials," only holding a community meeting "after the plan was already being implemented."
