Rash Of Catalytic Converter Thefts In Medford: City

MEDFORD, MA — Medford residents are being warned of a rash of catalytic converter thefts from Toyota Priuses.

Officials said the thieves are using a mechanical cutting tool to cut the converters, which are part of the exhaust system, off of the vehicles.

The thieves may target other cars as well.

Residents are asked to "please be aware of any unusual activity in your neighborhood, and call the police if you see or hear any suspicious activity in your neighborhood," according to an alert from the city.
