Remote Snow Day Likely In Medford
MPS expects to transition to a "full remote" day Thursday, meaning students will maintain their regular schedule over electronic platforms.
MEDFORD, MA — Students and staff in the Medford Public Schools should plan to learn remotely on Thursday, Dec. 17, Superintendent Marice Edouard-Vincent said Tuesday. Given how districts have adapted to the pandemic, the prospects of a traditional snow day have dimmed this year.
"The determination as to whether to cancel school (and make up the day in June) or transition the district to a 'full remote' day in which all students will continue to engage in their normal schedule but do so remotely will be based on the severity of the weather event and the lead time we have in determining a given storm's implications," Edouard-Vincent said.
When a "full remote" day is declared, all students – including Cohorts A, B, and C – will maintain their regular schedule and learn over the electronic platforms established with their teachers. There is a "strong likelihood" of such a day on at least Thursday, Edouard-Vincent said.
