Tufts to Re-Purpose Boston Avenue Facility, Forcing Out Artisans

Tufts Daily reported last week that local artisans have until May 31 to vacate the current premises.

Tufts University is set to re-purpose a campus building at 574 Boston Ave., one that has housed local artisans for many years. According to Tufts Daily, those artisans will need to find a new home starting May 31.

The school wants to use the building for new teaching and office space. The student newspaper reported last week the four-story, 96,000 square-foot building has been used to support a community of woodworkers and other artists dating back over 20 years.

According to the paper, the university has tried to facilitate a move for the artisans currently using the building, but those efforts to this point have not resulted in finding a new home.
