Here's some of the top headlines from around Medford this week:
The 6 1/2 year agreement projects to save the city over $25 million and save union employees about $9.7 million, Mayor Michael McGlynn said in a press conference Tuesday morning. The agreement is the biggest impact on the municipal budget in Medford's history, McGlynn said.
Greg Galanopolous, 49, is charged with motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, according to a State Police press release. One man died and another was seriously injured after the Chevy Van driven by Galanopolous swerved from the southbound passing lane into the middle lane and struck a box truck about 5 p.m. Monday, police said. Galanopolous was allegedly speeding at the time of the crash.

Crews have finished replacing 14 bridges on I-93 in Medford, but paving work this weekend is expected to cause closures and delays on the interstate. From 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, crews will work to install a new layer of pavement on I-93 North from Exit 29 in Somerville to Exit 34 in Stoneham.
Tiana Clark, 28, of Medford was charged with aggravated assault following the incident, which occurred about 8:30 a.m. in Portland, Maine, police told the Portland Press Herald. A man and woman from Dorchester were also charged in the incident, which was believed to be over crack cocaine, according to the Press Herald.
