Here's a look at the top stories from Medford this week:

After several days of meetings between Headmaster Paul Krueger, Superintendent Roy Belson and Athletic Director Bob Maloney, a press conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. Saturday to address the issue. Mike Petrides, head coach last year, was originally told his contact would not be renewed. But he has been invited to the announcement this morning.

The U.S. Postal Service is considering shutting two branches in Medford as part of a nationwide study to determine the "customer needs" at over 3,700 offices. The potential losses have some residents concerned over where they'll have to go for postal needs while others think there's a potential for long lines and the remaining post office.

Cruiser Crash: A Medford Police cruiser collided with a sedan on Salem Street about 10 p.m. Wednesday, Fox25 reports. Accident reconstruction investigators reviewed the scene, though a cause has not yet been determined.

Every office will be contested this year, with three running for Mayor, ten for city council and nine for school committee.

The remains have been identified of a Medford man who died in a plane crash during World War II 67 years ago, along with 11 others. Army Air Forces Staff Sgt. Frederick Harris and the other men were last seen leaving an airfield in Papua New Guinea, Oct. 27, 1943.
