Boot Camp, Foodmaster Donate to Melrose Emergency Fund

Submitted by Mayor Rob Dolan's Office.

Members of the Melrose Boot Camp donated $500 to the Melrose Emergency Fund last week. The money was raised in a special Fitness Fundraiser on December 3.

“Melrose is a community that is increasingly focusing on fitness, and the Melrose Boot Camp is a big part of that,” said Mayor Robert J. Dolan. “I think it’s great that as we take care of ourselves, we also focus on helping those who need help during this holiday season.”

Johnny’s Foodmaster also donated $300 worth of gift cards to be distributed to local families. “The Emergency Fund addresses basic needs—primarily food and heat,” said Dolan. “We can’t solve all people’s problems, but supermarket gift cards make it possible for their holidays to be a bit more festive.”

Donations to the Emergency Fund total $24,578 so far. “I continue to be impressed with the generosity of the people of Melrose, even in these uncertain times,” said Dolan. “It is heartening to know that so many people are looking out for their neighbors in need this holiday season.”
