Jen McAndrew Should Be Re-Elected: Letter
"Public service and the education of Melrose schoolchildren are her passions. This year, like no other, has demonstrated that."

The following was submitted by Melrose residents Michael McCormack and Elizabeth Christopher:
As the November 2nd election approaches, we enthusiastically support the re-election of Jen McAndrew to the Melrose School Committee. Our leaders were given no template to follow for how to keep our community safe from a pandemic. We are grateful that Jen has been at the helm, working with the superintendent, fellow committee members, and city leaders to create that template. Her decisions and actions have kept our children safe while making their education and social-emotional needs a priority.
Jen’s effectiveness is no surprise to us. As parents of three Melrose public schoolchildren, we’ve seen her in action on school PTOs and as part of the Melrose Education Foundation before leading the school committee. Jen is that rare leader who embodies empathy, fairness, and decisiveness who has made a real difference in Melrose.

Jen’s work made a difference when she helped conceive, launch, and then lead the Melrose Education Foundation. And again when she laid the groundwork for a much-needed override, and later when she crafted a budgetary solution to a cash-strapped district as a school committee member.
Public service and the education of Melrose schoolchildren are her passions. This year, like no other, has demonstrated that.

We urge all Melrose parents to vote to re-elect Jen McAndrew on November 2nd.
Sincerely,
Michael McCormack and Elizabeth Christopher
