MALDEN, MA — A police officer was honored with the state’s highest bravery award.

Officer Amanda Greiner was presented with the George L. Hanna Medal of Valor by Governor Maura Healey at Mechanics Hall in Worcester on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Greiner was recognized for her actions in stopping an assailant who was attacking a woman and then charged at Greiner and her fellow officers with a knife while responding to a call last year.

Commissioner Barbara Murphy, Chief Glenn Cronin, members of the Command Staff, Traffic Division, and Special Operations Unit were all in attendance to watch their peer be honored.
“Officer Grenier, who is currently assigned to our Traffic Division as a Motor Officer, and serves on our Special Operations Unit, exemplifies the courage, professionalism, and dedication that define the very best of our department and the law enforcement profession,” the department said in a statement.
