Melrose Getting Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing
People will not have to have symptoms to be eligible for testing, but they will need to make an appointment.

MELROSE, MA — Drive-thru testing for COVID-19 will soon be available in the city, according to local health officials.
Health Director Ruth Clay said details, including where and when, are still being finalized. The city is expected to release more information Friday. A web portal could be live Monday.
People will not have to have symptoms to be eligible for testing, but it will be by appointment. People will remain in their vehicle, where a nasal swab test will be administered.

Also in Wednesday's Board of Health meeting, Clay said outdoor dining can begin for Melrose restaurants that already offer it as soon as phase two begins. Others will still need approval from the city.
Places like the Dunkin' on Main Street and Giacomo's are not considered outdoor seating despite big open windows, since the dining areas are still in the building envelope.

Gov. Charlie Baker will announce Saturday when phase two can begin. It can be as early as Monday.
