Melrose Election 2019: Everything To Know, Where To Vote
In many ways, this is a once-in-a-generation Election Day in Melrose. Here's everything you need to know before you head to the polls.

MELROSE, MA — An almost complete reshuffling of city government will be decided by voters in Tuesday's election. Voters will elect a new mayor for only the second time this century, while the newly named City Council will see anywhere from seven to 10 rookie Councilors in the 11-seat legislative body.

Melrose will select State Rep. Paul Brodeur or at-large City Councilor Monica Medeiros to succeed Mayor Gail Infurna. Infurna was selected by the then-Board of Aldermen to replace Mayor Rob Dolan when he left for Lynnfield midway through his term. Infurna promised before being selected that she wouldn't be on this ballot.

Brodeur and Medeiros emerged from a five-person field that included at-large City Councilors Manisha Bewtra and Mike Zwirko and former Director of Community Services and City Operations Jackie Lavender Bird in the city's preliminary election this summer.
Medeiros would be the first female mayor voted into office in Melrose.
