Melrose High Football Captures Division 3 Northwest Title

The Red Raiders are now one win away from earning a trip to the Super Bowl after running past Concord-Carlisle Friday night.

The Melrose High School varsity football team captured the Division 3 Northwest championship Friday night with a 38-20 win over the Concord-Carlisle Patriots.

Red Raiders star running back Mike Pedrini rushed for 128 yards on nine carries and posted 91 receiving yards. He also tallied three total touchdowns.

Pedrini’s efforts helped his team overcome a 10-point halftime deficit. In victory, Melrose improved to a perfect 10-0 on the season, while Concord-Carlisle fell to 7-2.

Melrose will next square of with Danvers in a State Division 3 semi-finals contest. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. on Nov. 20. The winner will advance to the Division 3 Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium in December.

The Red Raiders still have a date with the Wakefield Warriors on Thanksgiving Day.
