Melrose To Mark 9/11 Anniversary With Ceremony
The ceremony will include a moment of silence to note the moment that the second plane hit the World Trade Center 21 years ago.
MELROSE, MA — Melrose will honor the 21st anniversary of the September 11th Attacks on Sunday morning with a ceremony outside City Hall.
The event is set to take place in front of City Hall’s Essex Street entrance. A brief ceremony will begin with a moment of silence at 9:03 a.m., noting the moment that the second plane hit the South Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City on Sept. 11, 2001.
Melrose Mayor Paul Brodeur and local faith leaders will follow the moment of silence with brief remarks.

Melrose Police, Fire and Veterans Services personnel will be in attendance alongside members of Melrose’s legislative delegation, as noted in an event announcement last week.
“Our nation has a responsibility to never forget this tragic act of terrorism,” Brodeur said in the city’s announcement. “By continuing to commemorate this day every year as Melrose has done so in the past, we never will.”
