Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Portland, Maine, we are a leading curbside composting company in New England. From our humble beginnings at a table on Congress Street during Portland's First Friday Artwalk, we've grown into a beloved household service with a big climate impact. Today, we service more than 40,000 households, schools, restaurants, businesses, and events across the region. We're expanding our reach with the vision of bringing convenient curbside composting to communities throughout New England. Our ethos is simple: make composting approachable, convenient, and impactful while supporting local economies. Through our work, we're tackling one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions—food waste in landfills—and turning it into a resource that nourishes the region's soil and farms.

Don't think too hard about the metrics behind this one — WalletHub included broad categories of affordability, economic health, education and health, quality of Life and safety — just revel in the extra props coming Melrose's way. The city ranked eighth in the nation in education and health, 22d in safety and 88th in economic health. It was also 501st in affordability and 648th in quality of life. In a major upset, Melrose didn't rank in the top five nationally in coffee shops per capita. Melrose was one of eight Massachusetts communities in the top 20. Lexington (4th,) Reading (5th) and Milton (8th) ranked above it. Sammamish, WA, Carmel, IN and Brentwood, TN were the top three in the nation.
