Melrose Is One Of The Best Small Cities In America, Ranking Says

MELROSE, MA — Melrose was listed as the ninth-best small city in America in a new ranking released Tuesday by personal finance website WalletHub.

Don't think too hard about the metrics behind this one — WalletHub included broad categories of affordability, economic health, education and health, quality of Life and safety — just revel in the extra props coming Melrose's way.

The city ranked eighth in the nation in education and health, 22d in safety and 88th in economic health. It was also 501st in affordability and 648th in quality of life.

Melrose was one of eight Massachusetts communities in the top 20. Lexington (4th,) Reading (5th) and Milton (8th) ranked above it.

Sammamish, WA, Carmel, IN and Brentwood, TN were the top three in the nation.
