Melrose Police Celebrate Newest Promotions

Two long-standing officers were leveled up, and one recruit was sowrn in as the department's newest addition.

MELROSE, MA — The Melrose Police Department officially promoted Paul Sasso to the position of Sargent and Brian Ladner to the position of Lieutenant.

The duo was celebrated and sworn in at the City Hall Council Chambers Tuesday by Mayor Jen Grigoraitis and City Clerk Tanji Cifuni. Sasso first joined the field of law enforcement in 2014 with Melrose police as the only new hire that year after a two-decade career in finance.

Ladner joined Melrose police in 2009, and was promoted to Sargent in 2015. Prior to joining the force, the Malden native served 13 years in the Marine Corps Reserve.
