Melrose Police Preparing Kids To Handle Dangerous Situations Through Program
RADKids is about personal empowerment safety education.

MELROSE, MA — The police department is recruiting the local youth to its upcoming RADKids program.
The free, multi-day event aims to prepare children on how to handle dangerous situations with confidence. The scenarios covered include bullying prevention, physical resistance to attempted abduction, stopping child predators and knowing their common tactics, and internet safety.
The program is taking place on Oct. 21, 23, 28, and 30 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Applications are currently available for children between the ages of 8 and 11 at the police department’s front desk, which is located on 56 West Foster St.
“Through RADKids children become empowered and learn to replace fear, confusion, and panic of dangerous situations with confidence, personal safety skills, and self-esteem,” the department said in a statement. “The Melrose Police are excited to bring this program to the community to help provide an opportunity for our families to better prepare for the world we live in.”
