Melrose Police Receives $5K Donation to Support R.A.D. Program
The R.A.D. system is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assaults.

Melrose Police Chief Michael L. Lyle would like to thank the Melrose Running Club for their $5,000 donation to the Melrose Police Department’s Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) program.
Representatives from the running club, Jason Doucette, Melrose Running Club President, and Liz Tassinari, Melrose Run for Women Race Director, presented Chief Lyle with their contribution on Tuesday night.
The Melrose Police Department will be hosting a R.A.D. with Keys class in late October.

“It is because of our community partners that we are able to offer these programs to residents,” Chief Lyle said. “We certainly appreciate the Melrose Running Club’s generosity and look forward to providing the R.A.D. class to the women in our city.”
The R.A.D. system is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assaults by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics. The course begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on the basics of hands-on defense training.
