Melrose Superintendent Cyndy Taymore Announces Retirement

Cyndy Taymore is retiring effective June 30, 2020.

MELROSE, MA — Superintendent Cyndy Taymore is retiring, effective June 30, 2020. Taymore made the announcement at Tuesday night's School Committee meeting.

"The beginning of an end of an era," School Committee Chairman Ed O'Connell said.

Taymore has run Melrose Public Schools for more than seven years, coming from Bedford to replace retiring Superintendent Joseph Casey. She also worked in Malden and Swampscott schools.

In 2017 Taymore signed a three-year contract that was set to expire June 30, 2021. The School Committee agreed to amend her contract in executive session Tuesday night.
