Obituary of Shirley M. Emmons

"She liked to knit and sew, enjoyed cats, Broadway shows, traveling, was an avid reader and a big sports fan."

Shirley M. Emmons passed away at Golden Living Elmhurst Nursing Home in Melrose on Wednesday June 12, 2013. She was 97 years of age. 

Shirley was born in Malden, raised in Everett, lived in Malden for many years and has been a resident of Melrose for the past 20 years. Miss Emmons worked as an office manager for a manufacturing company in Everett for many years. She liked to knit & sew, cats, Broadway shows, traveling, was an avid reader and a big sports fan. Shirley loved to spend time with all the younger nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the daughter of the late Harry & Hazel (Perreault) Emmons.

Cousin of Barbara Sullivan of Malden & Ruth Wentzel of Medford. Also survived by numerous other cousins, relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Saturday, June 15th from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave. #2, Norwood, MA 02062 or www.kidney.org.
