Rep. Katherine Clark’s Daughter Given Year Of Probation: Report

MELROSE, MA – The daughter of representative Katherine Clark (MA-5), Riley Dowell, has been sentenced to a year of probation, after facing charges for assaulting a police officer and defacing a historic monument at a protest, Boston.com reports.

If Dowell successfully completes the conditions of her probation – which include community service, therapy, and restitution to the city of Boston to remove spray paint on the Parkman Bandstand – her case will be dismissed, according to Boston.com.

She faces charges of assault and battery on a police officer, vandalizing property, tagging property, vandalizing a historic marker/monument, and resisting arrest at a protest in January.

Clark, who was a resident of Melrose for 20 years before relocating to Revere, has been the representative for Massachusetts’ fifth congressional district since 2013 and the House Minority Democratic Whip since 2023.

In a statement in January, Clark said “I love Riley, and this is a very difficult time in the cycle of joy and pain in parenting. This will be evaluated by the legal system, and I am confident in that process.”
