Rob Aufiero Running For Ward 6 City Councilor
Rob Aufiero announces his candidacy for Ward 6 City Councilor.

Dear Melrose residents,
I am declaring my candidacy for Ward 6 City Councilor, and respectfully ask for your vote on November 5th . As a lifelong North Shore resident, I moved to Melrose because of the close-knit community, vibrant downtown, its affordability, and safe neighborhoods. Melrose has given me so much that I hope to give back my time and effort as your next Ward 6 City Councilor.
If elected I will: Fight to keep Melrose an affordable place to live by holding the line against additional residential tax increases. Work to increase our commercial tax base. Engage the community with neighborhood meetings to facilitate transparency, accessibility and problem solving. Look for ways to streamline city services to better use your tax dollars.

In fact, I strongly believe that we should place a moratorium on further development until we can assess our infrastructure needs to see whether or not our sewer and electrical grid can handle the greater demands that new development would place on the system. These everyday needs include safe and reliable roads and sidewalks – some roads on the border of Ward 6 and Ward 7 have been neglected for far too long!
As someone who has coordinated volunteer organizations, I have managed budgets and contributions from faithful donors to achieve the best financial outcomes for our various charitable ventures. It is this same principle of stewardship that I would bring with me in every budget decision. We need new streams of revenue other than residential taxes that are becoming more difficult for working families and seniors on fixed incomes.

I studied Plastics Engineering at UMass Lowell, and interned for a medical manufacturer. I bring this unique background as we discuss infrastructure, the effects of plastics on the environment and methods to become a more environmentally sound and sustainable city.
I pledge that I will always listen to all of my constituents. I care about our community and will work every day to represent your needs on the City Council. Thank you for your consideration and your vote on November 5th .
Sincerely,
Rob Aufiero
