Saugus Homicide: GoFundMe Raises Over $14K In Under 24 Hours

SAUGUS, MA — A GoFundMe for the family of a Saugus man who died in a weekend homicide has raised over $14,000 in just 18 hours.

Michael Norton, 26, died on Saturday night. His first cousin, Erica Ramos, is raising money to cover the cost of his funeral and related expenses, with all donations going directly to his family.

"We want to give Michael 'Mikey' Norton the memorial he deserves, to honor his memory and say our last goodbyes," Ramos wrote in the fundraiser, which so far has amassed $14,195.

Family members found Norton dead in his home at 44 Collins Ave. on Sunday, Saugus Police Chief Michael Ricciardelli said.

Police say an investigation into Norton's death is ongoing and have not said how he died, though WHDH reported that he was tied up and beaten to death.

"No donation is too small. Your kind donation is beyond appreciated," Ramos wrote in the GoFundMe. "The high cost of funeral services is a huge point of stress for families who have just lost a loved one."
