  • Melrose gathers yard waste on usual trash pickup days, and it should be left on your curb after 5 p.m. the previous evening, but not after 7 a.m. on the day of collection.
  • Yard waste - which Melrose defines as leaves, grass, and brush no thicker than one inch, and tied and bundled - must be dropped off in paper leaf bags or barrels clearly marked “yard waste.” No plastic bags allowed. Bumper stickers emblazoned with the phrase “yard waste” are available for free at the the DPW.
  • Barrels and bags must be less than 45 pounds each, and residents can only expect trash collectors to remove fewer than 10 barrels or bags of yard waste at a time.
