Which Presidential Candidates Are Melrose Residents Backing?

Melrose residents have donated most to President Trump — thanks to one donor in particular — and only one (big) donation has gone Joe Biden.

MELROSE, MA — Melrose didn't vote for President Trump in the 2016 election, but residents are paying up for his 2020 re-election bid. Trump has more individual donations and has raised more from Melrose residents than any other presidential candidate this year up to Sept. 30, according according to Federal Election Commission data.

Trump received 25 donations for $6,196.25, a total buoyed by two donations of $2,800 apiece from Jessica Tocco, the CEO and founder of Boston-based lobbying firm A10 Associates.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren was second with 24 donations totaling $3,649 and South Bend (Ind.) Mayor Pete Buttegieg was third with 15 donations for $3,251.68. A large portion of Buttegieg's total came via a $2,000 donation from Bank of America executive Wendell Chestnut.

Former Vice President Joe Biden received only one donation, but it was for $2,700. The donation came from Brian Mirasolo, a decorated probation officer.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders got 12 donations for $1,039. Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper had one donation for $1,000.
