Planning for a Farmers Market, Sobriety Checkpoint for Worcester Co.

Here are five things to help inform your day.

1. State Police will hold a sobriety checkpoint on a public way in Worcester County on Saturday, Aug. 3 into Sunday, Aug. 4. Just a few weeks ago, the state police held the sobriety checkpoint in Milford, resulting in several arrests on DUI.

2. Volunteers are working to establish a farmers market in Milford. The group, led by attorney and local resident David Morganelli, will speak to Milford Selectmen on Monday. Vendors that are interested in selling products at the outdoor market include a honey maker, a bread maker, and a cheese maker, according to Morganelli. The group is reaching out to area farms for produce, as well.

3. The Milford Area Chamber of Commerce is asking its more than 500 business members to send in comments about how the owners feel about the proposed Foxwoods Massachusetts casino. In an email to members this week, president Barry Feingold said: "Now that a significant amount of detailed information and analysis has been made available to the community and we have all had the opportunity to hear from the parties both in favor of and against the project, we can prepare to make a much more informed assessment."

4. State legislators have approved a bill that would no longer try 17-year-olds charged with crimes as adults. The legislation now heads to Gov. Deval Patrick for his signature.
